Age old question...

Anyone that grew up watching movies or reading comic books, has asked or been asked this question...

If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

The common responses are ability to fly, invisibility, strength, etc... with a myriad of reasons behind their choice.

I have decided I want the power to control probability.

You see with probability, anything is possible. For instance, what is the probability that I will fly without a plane? Currently 0%, with the power of probability it now goes to 100% and you are flying.

What is the chance of me winning the lottery? Currently 1 in 13, 983,816. (I did the maths) With the Power of Probability, 100% and congrats I won the lottery.

What is the Probability of me finding a hot tub full of naked women, now with the power, 100%. An Audi R18 in the drive? 100% A rock hard body? 100% A government that works for the people? 100%

You see where I am going with this.

Now what kind of sidekick would I have?

Low Hanging Fruit

Question for the Word Wardens, the Text Tyrants, the Syntax Superintendents, the Grammar Guardians:

The word "Fruit", what is its plural?

  • We say Fruit Juice, not Fruits Juice, even if there is multiple fruit in it.
  • But it is the 'Fruits of our labor', not the Fruit of our labor. Even if there is only one outcome from the effort.
  • It is Fruit of the Loom, not Fruits of the Loom. But the do come in multiples in the pack.
  • If a plant fruits, it produces fruit, rarely do you see different produce on the same plant.
  • They say be fruitful and multiply, with the expectation that many will be produced.
So is fruit an uncountable noun? We go to the market to buy fruit, even if we mean oranges, apples, and cherries.

So what say you Dictionary Despots...

Lunacy

They say that people's moods and actions can be influenced by the moon. Werewolves, lunatics, the luny bin have all been tossed around and linked to the phases of the moon (lunar). Some believe this, others think it is nonsense. I have never seen a werewolf or have been to the luny bin, but I know a number of lunatics.

Recently there was a super moon , and I just want to point out the lunacy that has surrounded this occurrence.

We have watched the SCOTUS rule in favor of a corporation over humans in the Hobby Lobby decision based on no laws or anything remotely having to do with the Constitution.

We have seen the Israelis continue their assault on the Gaza strip, including going beyond rocket attacks and putting boots on the ground and going door to door with their apartheid.

We have witnessed the shooting down of a passenger plane by a radical group in the Ukraine.

We have a Congress that is suing the POTUS for not implementing a policy correctly that they have opposed and have tried to over turn 50 plus times.

If this is not a sign that the moon drives the craziness that happens around you, you are not paying attention.

But relax, we are scheduled (I guess) to have another on August 10th, 2014, in the middle of the Dog Days of Summer. Can't wait to see what that brings....

HBM Update 3 Part II

So as I have said before, I receive many compliments on my 'stache. Today, two different women commented on the 'stache and said that they would love to try kiss someone with a HBM. So men, get growing one, women want to kiss you.

Now they didn't say me directly (or at least I think they didn't say me), I may have missed the hint as I have been oblivious to this before and probably have been for my entire life. I have never been very cognitive of the signals, or direct words for that matter, of the opposite sex.

Oh well, may be next time...

HBM Update 3

So it has been well over six months, and now into the seven since I started the 'stache Project. It is still going well and I am still really enjoying it.

I have started to make my own 'stache wax, and still working at adjusting the formula and make-up, and it may become a cottage industry for me. The wax I am blending holds up well in the heat and humidity of the Northeast, so far, and has a good endurance with just a minimal application. So keep checking back for updates on this.

I have also groomed a great soul patch to complement the 'satche, it has given me that swashbuckling hero look or something out of Princess Bride. It may not mean what you think it means....

I have also discovered a new razor, or at least new to me. Gillette Xtreme3, nice and flexible and cleans well, I will get back to you on how long it lasts, but got them at a good price, so that may be moot.

Sounds fair?

The federal government announced this month that a West Virginia chemical company would be fined $11,000 for a spill earlier this year that poisoned the drinking water for 300,000 people in the state.
According to a citation document obtained by The Charleston Gazette, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) hit Freedom Industries with a $7,000 fine for keeping chemicals in diked areas that were not “liquid tight.”
The administration fined Freedom an addition $4,000 for not providing employees with a proper hand railing to walk over the storage dikes.
About 300,000 people were left without drinking water when coal cleaning chemicals leaked on Jan. 9. A recent survey found that one in five people reported health issues after the chemical spill.
That is a little less than $.04 a person effected.....

Worship the Leaf

I want to take a moment to thank the SCOTUS for the opportunity they have just presented me. By allowing everyone to do what they want based on their believes, I am now allowed to go anywhere smoking a cigar because that is what I believe. Worship the leaf people, mother nature gave it to us for a reason. If you don't like it too bad, you can not infringe on my rights via my believes, the SCOTUS says so.
